Stanley Douglas (Doug) Guertin Obituary

Stanley Douglas (Doug) Guertin was born May 7, 1948 in Wilmington, Delaware. Doug received his appointment to the US Naval Academy, Class of 1970, while residing in Yardley, PA. Following graduation Doug entered the SWO community where he enjoyed a variety of sea and shore tours. Standouts in his active-duty time included assignment to Naval Engineering Research Program as OINC of SES -100A, OINC SRF Long Beach, XO, Material Officer on the staff of Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group Three which included time embarked in USS Enterprise CVN 65, (always claimed this was his favorite tour), CO, USS Rathburne FF 1057 and his final assignment as MSC Liaison Officer in Vaihingen, Germany. Doug retired from active-duty February 1, 1995. Following retirement Doug spent time in various leadership positions in industry before moving to Salem, SC to enjoy retired life. Doug passed peacefully to eternal rest on October 9, 2025. He is survived by his brother and two sisters.
